There is no immediate perception. All you perceive is always an alignment with what you know, what you feel and what you remember. It’s always a conversation with yourself. But there is a place in between, a place that can be found in moments in which you experience the vagueness of sensual perception. A place that dissolves the line between what
can be felt as your body and the space it's in.
I find this place when I’m floating underwater with my eyes closed. I find this place when I'm in a hypnagogic state - a state between sleep and wakefulness. I find this place in moments of complete exhaustion.
Fascinated by the phenomena of alienation, dissolution and mimicry, I create moments of revelation and obscuration, searching for this place in between.
My work evolves around the search for the whereabouts of the self, the vagueness of human perception and the sensuality of contact with and without touch.
